Courtney Kivett
Assistant Coach

Courtney Kivett begins her first season as an assistant coach for the Minot State University softball program.

She has 14 years of coaching experience in both college and high school, joining husband, head coach Dave Kivett for six of those years. She was a member of the Yucaipa High School coaching staff that won the National Championship in 2015.

Kivett competed as an outfielder at the NCAA Division II level at Cal State Dominguez Hills in Carson, Calif. She is originally from Riverside, Calif.

 

Ashley Lanz-Gilstad
Pitching Coach

Ashley Lanz-Gilstad begins her first season as an assistant softball coach and will serve as the team’s pitching coach. Lanz-Gilstad has helped with the Minot State softball program as an assistant twice in the past and has served as a volunteer coach, working with the pitching staff.

She has an extensive resume both as a player and a coach, pitching for the Beavers in 2003-2004. She earned First-Team All-Conference and All-Region for MSU and was an NAIA All-American Honorable Mention in 2004.

From there, she transferred to Simon Fraser (British Columbia) and earned First-Team NAIA All-American and Pitcher of the Year honors in 2005. Lanz-Gilstad also played for the Canadian National Softball Team in 2005, attending the Pan Am Qualifier in Guatemala and won a silver medal at the Pan American Games with Team Canada in 2011.

Lanz-Gilstad, from Winnipeg, Manitoba, has played professional softball in Italy and the Netherlands and has been on the MSU coaching staff twice previous. This past season, she coached the Mohall U14 team, worked with Minot State’s pitchers and coached at Ramstad Middle School.

 

Rachel Burdette
Graduate Assistant Coach

Rache Burdette begins her first season as a graduate assistant softball coach following a solid playing career for the Beavers.

Burdette started 149 games in her career, mainly at second base. She batted .301 with two home runs and 35 RBIs in 2017 and finished her career with 24 home runs and 121 RBIs.

The Temecula, Calif., native earned her Bachelor’s degree in corporate fitness and is working towards a Master’s degree in sports management at MSU.
